Attacked by a Sidewalk

Since this is my very first post, no one out there knows that I just returned from my London/ Paris vacation last week. I've only been home a few days and already the Eiffel Tower's siren song pulls me back. Unfortunately, I can't quite move to Paris yet (I need to fatten up the bank account a bit more first) but I will be moving back to Athens in a few weeks to begin my sophomore year at UGA. One of my "projects" for the semester involves me running a half marathon in October, so this morning I continued my normal routine of running early in the morning. I always bring my dog, Daisey, with me so that she can get some good exercise. Well, today we were on our way back home when she saw a lady walking two dogs across the street. Suddenly she gets the urge to jump in front of my legs, come to a complete stop, then jump out of the way to give my body a clear path straight to the sidewalk. Result: some nasty scratches all over my left hand/elbow, a pulled muscle in my hip, and some scratches on my right hand and thigh. Needless to say, it was not the best way to start off the day.
Fortunately, my day improved rather quickly. My dad took me to get some new glasses(more on this later) and some paint while he ran some errands. In no way am I a painter, but I wanted to create something for my room back at school. Here's a picture of the final product. Not bad for a non-painter if I do say so myself.

Lastly, I ended my day with a delicious salmon dinner created by my dad and I. I prepared the salad with beets, roasted red peppers, our homegrown tomatoes, hearts of palm, and our cucumbers while my dad grilled the salmon with a basil pesto he whipped up the other day. The picture isn't the best, but it sure tasted good.
